Outdoor Classroom Day
On Thursday the children of Saint Mary's ditched the classroom and brought their learning outside. In Primary Six and Seven the children completed a maths challenge to investigate which car number plate had the greatest value. Primary Five and Four explored body shapes and angles. In Primary Three and Four the children joined in with story telling in their literacy tasks and debated appropriate pizza toppings. In their maths they investigated their shadow at different times throughout the day, explored using natural materials to make symmetrical pictures and finally gave each other directions to certain co-ordinates on a grid. In Primary One and Two the children created amazing sun pictures with the Lego, they squirted doubles, made shapes using natural materials and finished with a lovely storytelling session.
Our Outdoor Classroom Day finished with the Daily Mile. ππππ
On Friday the children from Little Stars had their own Outdoor Classroom Day. They had lots of opportunities for mark making in the playground. The children went exploring the outdoor area for different natural materials, investigated different tower heights using the large building blocks and finally made sure that their outdoor plants were being well fed in the Summer Sun.
Fun was had by all!
